First Voice Generation

The First Voice Generation film follows the stories of three Latinx high school students in Holland, Michigan. They struggle with a sense of identity and belonging growing up in this predominantly Dutch community because they are a child of Mexican immigrants. They dream of being the first in their family to go to college but Covid-19 shuts the world down, thereby exacerbating their struggles with virtual learning and the cost of affording college seemingly impossible.
At the conclusion of the film, Holland native Cynthia Martinez, the writer, director and producer of the film will provide some remarks and conduct a Q&A session.
The funds raised for this screening will finance final production of the film and benefit the valuable services provided to our community's children and teens at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland, the financial fiduciary of the film.
Community members are $10 and seating is general.
College students, high school students and children are free.
